What Does Worshiping God Mean to Me?  

Hello everyone!  My name is Mayaince Hogan and I am a former student of Bob Hudson. Currently, I am a student at Azusa Pacific University studying Music Education. During my time at Bakersfield Christian High School, I had the pleasure of having Mr. Hudson as my Worship Arts teacher.  I was given this opportunity to present a devotion, which is titled, “What Does Worshiping God Mean to Me?“ 

Throughout my life, the Lord has blessed me with many musical talents. In high school, I had the opportunity to grow my faith by taking a Worship Arts class. One key point I learned from taking the class was how worship can be presented at any place or any time. Whether it be at church or alone in your room, it is a time to connect with our Lord. Music has helped me to worship God emotionally and spiritually. According to the book of Psalms, David spoke about how praise comes from our voices. According to Psalms 71:23 it states, “My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.” God creates music in order for us to worship him.  If you are in need of alone time with the Lord and don't know what to do, take this as your answer! Find a spot in your room and play your favorite worship song. Praising God through His songs has helped me to feel his presence and be in the moment with Him.
